Why we use Beef Tallow? The anti-inflammatory properties of tallow can help soothe irritated skin and reduce redness, making it beneficial for all sorts of skin conditions and you guessed it... Why we add herbals to a simple recipe?
We add healing herbs such as calendula and yarrow to aid in healing the skin faster, and for our balm effectively lasting longer! Calendulas claim to fame came from it's wound healing properties! It helps wounds to heal much more rapidly, prevents suppuration and stagnation of fluids, modulates any local inflammation, and prevents bacterial overgrowth and infection. Calendulas astringency helps to draw the wound together to heal it more rapidly and preventing excessive scar formation. Calendula seems to “clean the wound from the inside out,” indicating that rather than just superficially preventing infection and sealing the wound, it works on a deeper level of the blood and lymphatics in the local tissues and works up and out from there, making it the perfect herb for wound healing, sunburns, bug bites, and all sorts of skin issues! We use yarrow as it is cooling and speeds the healing of tissues. It is known as heal all, similar to calendula - it is used and very effective in its wound healing properties making it the perfect addition to our balm!
